Aurora

Aurora Aksnes, born June 15th, 1997 in Stavanger and known professionally as Aurora sometimes stylized in uppercase as AURORA is an Norwegian music producer and singer. Her debut E.P. Running with the Wolves, came out in May 2015 on Decca Records to great approval from music journalists and media. She has previously recorded two highly-profile cover songs Half the World Away by Oasis. Oasis for a Christmas advertisement by John Lewis and Nature Boy by Nat King Cole. Her name was also recognized through a tweet from Katy Perry where Perry endorsed her track Runaway. It was her birthday. Aurora Aksnes' first musical memories involve finding a tiny piano in her basement and bewildered by the sound it created. Jan Oystein Aksnes and May-Britt Aksnes encouraged her to learn music not to get an income or as a pastime, but as an opportunity to improve. In the end, she began writing songs of her own. She acknowledges Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen, along with Bjork as her main influences. When her mother told her that the songs she composed were not meant to be famous for her, but instead to inspire people to see their own value and impact to the world, she began performing them publicly. The piano was first played by her when she was only six and was writing her first song by the time she was nine. Her family didn't hear about her musical journey until she was 14. Aurora isn't something she imagined as a child. Her only passion is to write music. According to her music, it is the most efficient way to express anything.
